LECTURER IN MEDIA
Salary: £10,010 - £18,318 per annum
18.5 hours per week
Fixed Term until June 2020
We are seeking a highly motivated lecturer to join our Media team and lead the Foundation Degree in Media in the School of Creative Arts.
Media is a very successful provision and currently is offered at Level 2, Level 3 and also Foundation Degree. The successful applicant would lead the Foundation Degree programme and teach elements of the Level 3 programme. It is expected that the appointee will have moving image specialism with industry experience.
This foundation degree programme is well established and will need someone with great vision for its development and commitment to it being a continued success.
You will have the skills and enthusiasm to deliver vocational media qualifications, across levels 3, 4 and 5. The ability and experience of teaching media at a range of levels both practically and theoretically. The ability to run a TV studio, with the assistance of a technician, and live filming projects is essential. Experience of teaching at HE level is essential. You will be an excellent team player and preferably have experience of leading a team.
We are looking for someone who is pro-active and innovative in their delivery to a range of students and who will add to the pastoral element of each course. Ideally you will have the vision to assist with developing the curriculum in line with local and national employer needs and developing innovative approaches to teaching, both classroom and blended learning.
You will be expected to teach a minimum of 12 hours per week and 6.5 hours departmental duties, this may include evenings.
You will need to be appropriately qualified with a degree and preferably hold teaching qualifications. You will have strong links with industry. You will be required to undertake a range of teaching activities, have excellent organisation skills and be able to lead and contribute effectively to team working.
The ability to use the Welsh language in teaching & learning and/or general communication at a basic level (or willingness to undertake training) is desirable for this post.
Applicants who do not hold a teaching qualification/assessor qualification must be prepared to obtain one within a specified time scale.
