Ysgol Bryn Derw are seeking to appoint 5 inspirational Level 2 Teaching Assistants for a unique opportunity to contribute to whole school and class-based initiatives in a growing school that received Excellent ratings in 4 out of 5 Estyn Inspection Areas in March 2020.
By September 2022 Ysgol Bryn Derw will, across 2 sites, support the provision of education for 98 children aged from 3 years to 19 years who have been diagnosed with ASD, also present with additional complex needs such as severe learning difficulties or highly challenging behaviour, and require a specialised environment.
The school aims to provide the highest possible standards of education and support for all its pupils regardless of their level of educational need, and is equipped with a range of specialised facilities including a Rebound Therapy room, 5 sensory rooms, a Touch Therapy room, 4 soft play rooms, 2 Independent Living Skills rooms and 2 allotment areas.
The Governing Body is looking to appoint five Level 2 TAs, in this role you will be responsible for delivering learning under the direction of the class teacher and supporting the educational and personal needs of pupils.
You will have experience, as a Teaching Assistant, of working with pupils with ASD/complex needs and a knowledge of strategies to support communication and regulation for people with ASD and of supporting challenging behaviour.

Candidates will be expected to:
• Work under the guidance of teaching staff and or/members of the school leadership team
• To support individuals and groups of pupils to enable access to learning
• To assist the teacher with the management of pupils in the classroom and beyond
Level 2 posts are for 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (typically 8.45am-3.45pm Monday-Friday, term-time only).
