Horizons Academy Bexley is part of the New Horizons Federation hub of schools. Horizons Academy is an alternative provision school which provides education for pupils who have been permanently excluded and live in London Borough of Bexley as well as offering places to out of borough children where their home school wishes to commission a place. Horizons places strong emphasis on early intervention and also offers short term placements through the Refocus Programme for pupils who are at risk of exclusion and presenting challenges in their home school.London South East Academies Trust currently comprises seven schools, providing high quality education for 5-19-year olds across the boroughs of Bromley and Bexley. Our schools, all rated Good by Ofsted, include a mainstream primary alongside special and alternative provision.Formerly known as Bromley Educational Trust, our expanding multi academy trust was renamed in 2016, reflecting our aim to develop excellent education across the wider region.The post holder will work under the direction of the Outreach Service Manager and Head of Outreach and Reintegration Service to create and deliver a range of specialist intervention projects and programmes to pupils across the New Horizons hub of schools and those in primary and secondary mainstream schools located in the London Borough of Bexley, including those in neighbouring local authority schools and academies. The post holder will work in partnership with the Outreach Service Manager to plan, prepare and deliver whole class engagement programmes as part of the Refocus Intervention Programme and mainstream schools across the London Borough of Bexley. The ability to accurately assess, record and report on the developmental progress and behaviour of students in accordance with the school’s behaviour policy and credit system is an essential requirement of the role. This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The school therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the person specification.
