About the Role:
City of Bristol College is seeking to appoint an experienced, professional and enthusiastic person to lead our Internship programme within the University of the West of England. The role involves some teaching and some Job Coaching. You will work closely with a number of partner organisations and employers to ensure that your Interns have excellent opportunities to build and showcase their employability skills in the workplace. You will represent the College at meetings and be passionate about improving employment outcomes for young people with SEND.
What you’ll be responsible for/what we are looking for:
You will take responsibility for the Project Search Interns, becoming their personal tutor, mentor and assessing their work rotations. You will work closely with staff from UWE and our supported employment organisation Sixteen Co operative to prepare and support Interns for work rotations. You will support the UWE department mentors so that they can support the interns to do well.
Responsibilities and Duties
To design, oversee and deliver employment learning programmes which develop learner’s skills and improve their chances of gaining sustainable employment.
To set up effective systems and processes to ensure that recruitment and transition is managed smoothly, in line with the wider college calendar.
To engage with employers, organisations, partners and stakeholders in the development of creating Supported Internship opportunities.
To liaise with job coaches and host employers to plan the delivery of learning in the employer environment.
To deliver all aspects of the programme, including classroom based employability, and Functional Skills, and job coaching in the workplace.
To work with curriculum and support teams and external agencies, schools and partners to aid transition, retention and progression into supported internships and work related opportunities.
We are looking for someone with experience of working with young people with SEND, embedded into a partner organisation with changing priorities and service requirements.
You will also need to be able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders, at all levels, internally and externally, as well as other members of College staff and students.
