Cambridge Regional College have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Lecturer to provide effective teaching and learning development for students with a learning difficulty. Our aim is for you to enable our students to access and successfully achieve their chosen programme of study.
Based at the Cambridge campus, you will be part of a supportive, welcoming team of professionals who focus on providing outstanding learning support to students.
The role is to deliver the teaching, learning and assessment of our students with a range of learning difficulties and additional learning support requirements.
Our focus is to ensure that students are fully supported with the development of their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills and their maths skills. In addition to this you will provide support to students to develop comprehensive study skills. You will have the ability to plan and prepare, and also work quickly, to establish excellent relationships with students to ensure that they get help with their assignments, revision, exam preparation, time management skills and other strategic study techniques, including the use of reflection.
Our aim is that students learn to recognise how they make significant improvements in their own learning.
You will need to be a qualified teacher or FE lecturer with experience in teaching students with a broad range of additional learning support requirements. You will need to work with students from a range of programmes and levels and be flexible in your approach to the students you support.
We are looking for a creative, self-starters who enjoy working with students to develop the skills that will help them to use feedback and meet their learning outcomes.
Ideally you will have experience of supporting students with assistive technologies and have a collaborative approach with students and their teachers. You will mainly work in our study centres and work with students in small groups or one to one. Ideally, you will be familiar with working through new technologies to support students.
You will be an excellent communicator who can work collaboratively with staff members and have clear vision and expectation for high quality teaching, learning, assessment and mentoring. You will be responsible for monitoring and tracking the progress of all of the students you work with to ensure they make great improvements in their learning.
We are particularly interested in staff who can offer specialisms in English and maths across a range of different levels.
Diploma in Education and Teaching (DET) or equivalent.
Diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) L5 – L7.
L3 or equivalent in specialist skills area e.g.
