We are seeking to appoint a SEND Specialist Practitioner to support learners on apprenticeship programmes who have a range of learning barriers and difficulties. This will involve providing individualised support programmes on a 1:1 or small group basis in order for learners to develop strategies to overcome their learning barriers.
The Faculty of Inclusive Practice is dedicated to enhancing the outstanding provision provided for learners with SEND. We are committed to recruiting innovative and specialist staff that build upon the strong foundations of empowerment that are embedded in across the faculty.
The Faculty aims to ensure an ethos of empowerment, enabling learners to take control of their learning, manage their SEND, develop skills and strategies to be independent learners across college.
You will be joining a passionate and dedicated team who work tirelessly to ensure the College’s inclusive practice meets the above vision. This work of this faculty has been recognised on a local, regional, national and international level, receiving AoC Beacon awards and the Queens Anniversary Prize for SEND learners.
The faculty supports 1,078 Further Education learners (502 with High Needs) and 153 Higher Education learners receiving various levels of learning support within the College. Currently, the College is the largest provider of Additional Learning Support and High Needs funding in the country.
The faculty itself has grown from a staff of 24 in 2001 to 163 today. The College has a dedicated CPD programme in place for SEND practitioners from Level 3 to Masters level, with the opportunity of specialist pathways to support a specific learning difficulty or disability e.g. autism. To date 71 College staff members have taken the qualification, with a 100% pass rate.
In 2007, the College developed its unique specialist support model to enable learners to work within a person-centred approach, supported by expert staff who have specific specialist knowledge of their learning disability or difficulty.
All areas within the Faculty achieve high levels of retention and achievement and the OFSTED in 2013 graded the LDD areas as Outstanding.
