Grade/Salary: Teachers Main /Upper Pay Scale MPS/UPS + SEN (£41,483 - £49,571 per annum) pro rata 24 hrs/week - 0.8 FTE (term time)
Qualified Teacher for Children and Young People with Multi-Sensory Impairment (QTMSI) 0.8 FTE
The Merton Sensory Support Service is looking to appoint a Specialist Teacher to join their team of experienced professionals dedicated to providing high quality support and advice to Merton’s schools and settings on behalf of children and young people with a sensory impairment.
An in depth knowledge of the requirements for safeguarding and child protection, strategies and technologies used to remove barriers to learning for babies, children and young people with Multi-Sensory Impairment is essential as is knowledge of current SEND policy and practice especially as it affects teaching and learning within provision for the sensory impaired.
You should have successful experience of teaching in an educational setting, experience of working with families and different settings, and experience of multi-agency working.
Candidates who do not hold the Mandatory Qualification will be considered but must be willing to undertake training within two years.
You should have experience of delivering staff development and whole school training and be willing to train and gain qualifications in communication systems ie BSL, Braille, on body signing.
It is highly desirable that the candidate has high levels of skill and confidence in using technology and equipment that supports access for CYP with Multi-Sensory Impairment
