The Governors of Aberdare Community School are seeking to appoint a self-motivated, self-disciplined colleague who is driven to do the best they can for the learners of Aberdare Community School.
The role of the Sports Coach is to support the PE department in achieving the very best sporting outcomes for learners at the end of their time at Aberdare Community School. This will involve working directly with learners throughout the school day and in the extra-curricular activities at the end of the day.
Under an agreed process of supervision, the Sports Coach will work alongside staff to deliver a range of Sports Activities / Coaching. This will typically involve:
• Full involvement for all timetabled games lessons and selected PE lessons
• Coaching and leading teams, inclusive of running team practices throughout the year and attending competitions
• Communicating with local, regional or national schools and working with line manager in the coordination of competitions/fixtures
• Refereeing, umpiring or supervising teams
• Playing a significant role in the delivery of off-site programmes in the local feeder primary schools
• To encourage pupils to adopt a healthy lifestyle and support the transition from school to community sport
The school opened in the summer of 2015 and is part of the 21st Century school building programme. Our facilities include a modern teaching environment with state of the art computer and technology facilities. The school is attached to the Sobell Leisure Centre which offers extensive opportunities for pupils, including an all-weather playing facility and newly opened athletics stadium.
