“Opportunities for professional development and sharing of best practice are numerous”. Ofsted May 2012
Malmesbury School requires an enthusiastic, dynamic and well-qualified teacher of PE. An expertise in netball and an ability to teach girls rugby would also be desirable and applications from NQTs are welcome. The school occupies a modern building with excellent facilities including a gymnasium, hall and dance studio as well as five tennis/netball courts and extensive playing fields. The school has strong relationships with local partners and has regular use of the sports hall at ‘The Activity Zone’ (Malmesbury sports centre), as well as access to the swimming pool. At Key Stage 4 Cambridge Nationals Sports Science and AQA GCSE P.E. are offered and large numbers of students sign up for these courses. A Level PE is also offered and the faculty follows the OCR exam board. The outstanding extra-curricular programme offered to students is a particular strength with high levels of participation.
We are a National Support School with a long history of working in collaboration with other schools. The most recent Ofsted inspection graded the school as ‘outstanding’ in every category. In September 2014 we were designated a Teaching School. This is an excellent opportunity for professional development in a very supportive and caring school. This post would be suitable for a highly competent NQT or a teacher with experience and a proven track record of success.
At Malmesbury School our vision is to be a happy, caring and excellent community. We are proud to be a truly comprehensive school providing an education of the highest quality for all the students within Malmesbury and the surrounding area.
In our most recent Ofsted inspection in May 2012, the inspectors found that in all areas the school is 'Outstanding'. One parental comment summarises what many others say; ‘This is a wonderful school. It nurtures, cares and educates the children’. In 2014 we established the Avon Teaching School Alliance and we now lead a group of excellent local schools and universities in providing high quality Professional Development Opportunities to staff at all stages in their careers. Also in 2014 we became a Core Maths lead school and now work with a number of schools across Wiltshire, Swindon and Gloucestershire leading the development of post 16 Core Maths.
In March 2015 we established the Athelstan Multi Academy Trust which consists of three secondary schools (Malmesbury School, Bradon Forest School and The Dean Academy), two in North Wiltshire and one in Gloucestershire. The Trust offers further career development opportunities for colleagues to work across more than one school.
Malmesbury is well situated just north of the M4 (J17), within easy travelling distance of Bristol, Bath, and Swindon and just on the edge of the Cotswolds.
The closing date for applications is noon on Monday 23rd September 2019 with interviews taking place on Wednesday 2nd October 2019.
The Athelstan Trust is an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share in this obligation. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure by the DBS.
