We are seeking to appoint a teacher of Humanities for a maternity cover at Milford Haven Secondary School. The successful applicant will have an expertise in teaching and assessing Religious Studies in Key Stages 3 & 4 and be able to prepare the year 11 cohort for their full course WJEC examinations.
The successful candidate will show an enthusiasm and passion for planning, delivering and assessing high quality learning and teaching. They will be willing to participate in whole school initiatives to raise the profile of the subject, such as Holocaust Memorial Day. The successful applicant needs to be confident in working on their own initiative as well as contributing to the AOLE as a whole. In addition to teaching Religious Studies (or Ethics as it is known at MHS), a successful candidate will be expected to teach an integrated Humanities course in year 7 in line with the Curriculum for Wales. Therefore a willingness and confidence in teaching History and Geography at KS3 will also be an important advantage. The Humanities AOLE is committed to integrating the curriculum to reflect the diversity and traditions of the local, Welsh and global communities.
Milford Haven is beautifully situated on the Pembrokeshire coast in an area where the quality of life is second to none. If you are an imaginative and energetic practitioner and want to make a difference to the life-chances of all groups of learners in your care then this could be the post for you. Milford Haven School is on an upwards improvement journey, as shown in the recent ESTYN inspection and a successful candidate will continue this important work.
