Royal Russell School educates over 1000 girls and boys between the ages of 3 and 18 and is situated on a beautiful green campus of 110 acres in the Shirley Hills near Croydon, only 30 minutes from Central London. We have over 180 boarding students in the Senior School and are proud of our state of the art day and boarding facilities as well as the warm pastoral provision provided by our Housemasters and Housemistresses. We offer GCSE Media Studies (Eduqas), Level 3 BTEC Extended Certificate and National Diploma in Media, and Media A level (Eduqas) at Sixth Form. Royal Russell has state of the art facilities with two Mac suites, a recently renovated studio, a live editing suite and a range of recording equipment, all of which is supported by a dedicated Media Technician. Outside the curriculum, students can participate in practical work encompassing media support for our internationally renowned MUN conference, and the ‘1853 Productions’ group who create most of the School’s multimedia content. Results within the department have been strong over a number of years, and the subject is increasingly popular.
You will lead the teaching of Level 3 BTEC for qualification in August 2022. Media is a popular subject at GCSE, A level and more recently BTEC in our Sixth Form. The Media department has a high profile within the school including a comprehensive programme of extracurricular activities.
You must be able to demonstrate your experience in managing and leading BTEC Media and taking students’ work through the moderation process. You should have outstanding subject knowledge and be able to teach confidently across different year groups. In addition, you should be able to deliver high quality tutorial support, and deliver a range of co-curricular activities.
