The Governors of this successful and oversubscribed Catholic High School are looking for an effective and enthusiastic teacher of music and drama. The school invites applications from well-qualified subject specialists to teach across two very successful departments; NQTs are welcome to apply. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, inspirational and outstanding individual to join our innovative and collaborative team. With an 8 form entry and thriving 6th form this role will help to continue to drive standards through all the key stages. Our Performing Arts tradition is well known. Summer shows, Christmas concerts, Eisteddfods, School productions as well as performances in the local community and on the national stage have all come from the hard work and dedication of staff in the faculty. The post holder would be expected to work collaboratively within Performing Arts to enhance our extra-curricular programme.
St. Joseph’s RC High School is a happy, ambitious and very successful learning community. Within Performing Arts we have the following facilities:
● Two large Drama studios that can be converted into a large performing space, suitable for audiences of 100 people.
● Integrated lighting, mobile LED lighting, blackout curtains, staging blocks, mobile staging rostra,
● Fantastic departmental library of classic and contemporary plays.
● Two Music teaching rooms equipped with 17 keyboards in each, iMac, chrome books
● 5 breakout practice rooms equipped with drum kits, guitars, ukuleles and various tuned and untuned percussion
● 22 Apple Mac computers for Music composition
Whilst the post is initially for one year due to different seconded promotions within the school, it is envisaged that a permanent role will materialise for the right candidate and in the right circumstances. Depending on the candidate, the weighting of music and drama teaching requirements can be discussed at interview, but the ability to teach either music or drama to A Level standard is essential.
