The Sensory Support Service is looking for a highly motivated teacher who holds or would be willing to train for the mandatory VI qualification for the Visually Impaired.
The team provides direct teaching, support, advice and training for children with visual impairment, their schools and parents from birth to 19 years, in homes, early years settings, mainstream schools and special schools across the Rhondda Cynon Taff and Merthyr area.
The successful applicant will ideally have recent experience of supporting children and young people who have low levels of vision and may also have additional disabilities. You will need to be able to demonstrate a proven track record of excellent teaching & learning practice including supporting a range of learning styles, and a good knowledge of the national curriculum. You will ensure that the children and young people with visual impairment have full access to the curriculum and wider learning.
The successful applicant will be confident in advising teachers and support staff in supporting and working with pupils with special educational needs and/or Visual impairments.
We are looking for a colleague with an understanding of the Special needs Code of practice and the enthusiasm and drive to support the implementation of the new ALN code.
Team working and excellent ICT skills are essential.
The ability to read, write and converse in through the medium of Welsh and English is essential for this post.
Applicants will be required to work in a variety of locations so must be willing and able to travel within the area in a timely and flexible manner
