Science Technician. Part Time (25 hours per week). Term Time Only (40 weeks per year). Permanent.
We are looking to appoint an experienced and qualified chemistry and physics laboratory technician to join our Science and Humanities department. The role involves the planning and preparation of a range of practical activities for our students who are studying on courses at both Level 2 and Level 3.
The applicant will have a sound knowledge of working in a laboratory environment in education and ideally industry settings. They will possess specialist knowledge in chemistry and physics and have studied these to A Level (or equivalent) as a minimum requirement. Although primarily based in chemistry and physics, there will be some occasional biology practical sessions to assist with as required. You will also have a minimum Level 2 in maths and English (GCSE Grace C or above, GCSE Grade 4 or above or equivalent).
You will be an enthusiastic, flexible and motivated team player with an eye for detail. You will have the willingness to learn new skills and be able to follow detailed instructions. The role involves the co-management of a practical calendar and the timely ordering of supplies to ensure that the teaching team are fully supported.
A full understanding of safe working practices in line with CLEAPSS, COSHH and hazard management would be beneficial.
