Technician – BA (Hons) Costume Construction (37 hours per week; 40 weeks per year)
This is a key post within the Higher Education department (Creative Portfolio) to support staff and students within Costume. Please note that having specialist knowledge of costume, print, dye, textiles as well as industrial sewing machine maintenance, is essential for this role. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to maintain workshop spaces and equipment, to support students and staff. Furthermore, the successful candidate will need to have industry experience and be able to provide advice on technical issues and occasionally give practical demonstrations to small groups of students.
The successful candidate should also demonstrate that they are able to work well as part of a team and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
This post is predominantly at our Thurrock and Purfleet sites, there may be cover required at Southend from time to time. Anyone starting midway through the academic year will have their monthly salary slightly reduced, as staff need to have worked a certain length of time through the academic year to be able to receive continued payment through the summer, when you won’t be expected to work. The actual figure would be calculated once a start date is confirmed. At the beginning of the next academic year the monthly salary will revert to 1/12th of the whole pro rata salary quoted.
