The Faculty of HE & Academic Stuides at Sheffield College is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic individual who can demonstrate a passion for helping students to excel in achieving their learning aims whilst enjoying their time at college and reaching their full potential.
As a Tutor Mentor you will be an excellent role model, supporting our students to become independent people who can reflect on their learning and find their own solutions to problems that inhibit their progress. The role will predominantly be based within the new Sheffield Sixth Form launched September 2019. There may also be opportunities to work across the Faculty support our Access and Teacher Training Academy.
Key to this role is the tracking of student attendance and progress as well as the implementation of strategies to improve retention and success. Another aspect of the role is to deliver enjoyable and stimulating group tutorials so providing learners with the opportunity to develop wider skills as well as providing one to one tutorial support. Work experience is integral to a student’s full time study programme and as a Tutor Mentor you will work collaboratively with departments and employers to ensure a rich student placement.
The successful applicants will be educated to a good level and the post will be of interest to those who want to work with people in an educational setting and who may wish to eventually pursue a career in teaching.
You will report to the Head of Student Experience and forge a close working relationship with other managers and staff within the facaulty, as well as liaising with parents and external organisations when appropriate.
