Overview

We are an 11-18 school, with a thriving Sixth Form, and are very proud of our track record of school improvement. Our results speak for themselves, and you can visit our school website to read about our success stories.

The staff at Cantonian work incredibly hard to ensure that all pupils fulfil our vision of “the best from each, success for all”. We believe that well-being is at the heart of every child’s success story and we have a variety of systems in place to support those who need it.

Our philosophy is that every young person in the school can succeed, whether they are academic high-flyers, inclined towards vocational subjects, pupils with additional needs, or those who need extra nurture at a crisis point in their lives.

A variety of after-school opportunities and other extra curricular events is available, ranging from extra sessions in exam subjects to sporting activities to homework club in the Learning & Media Resource Centre. We work closely with our partner primary schools and our local “cluster” schools, with whom we co-operate at Key Stages 4 and 5 to ensure that the vast majority of young people can follow their chosen subjects.

Our commitment to equal opportunities for all, regardless of gender, race, religion, orientation or ability, is reflected in all aspects of the curriculum and daily procedures. Our school buildings are not, as yet, fully accessible to wheelchair users, although we are working to make reasonable adjustments
