Overview

At its simplest, our mission statement as a school remains the same each year and that is to work to achieve the best possible outcomes for all our students thereby ensuring the best life chances for everybody in our care. This is underpinned by a belief that ‘an education’ is more than just a set of qualifications but is an experience which allows young people to enhance their natural talents, gifts and abilities.

We strive to ensure that all our students are supported to be the articulate, tolerant, resilient and caring young people who will go into the world beyond Haybridge as lifelong learners capable of achieving great things and making a difference. We work to provide all of our students with a bespoke learning experience which includes access to the broadest and most engaging and appropriate curriculum possible, outstanding teaching at all key stages and a motivating and energetic learning environment underpinned by an atmosphere of mutual respect and exciting extra-curricular opportunities.

We are very proud that in our last inspection report Haybridge was described as being ‘a very successful mix of innovation and traditional values, personalisation and collaboration, open enjoyment and high achievement’ and are committed to exploring the best that a 21st Century education can offer whilst remaining firmly committed to our traditions and values. We are very proud of our reputation built up over many years for supporting students of all abilities to achieve excellent results at both GCSE and A level which enables them to move on to the best in higher education, training and employment. In January 2013 we received a letter from the Rt. Hon David Laws MP which congratulated students, staff and Governors on achieving GCSE results which placed the school in the first 100 non-selective schools in the country, and in September 2013 the Guardian newspaper placed the school third out of nine schools selected in the country as ‘High-flying non-selective schools that come out on top’.

About Us

The Sixth Form at Haybridge is an established and distinctive part of an exceptional school and is able to offer a unique experience in that it combines the flexibility and independence of a college education with the support, range of opportunities and continuity of a school Sixth Form. As an Academy, Teaching School and National Support School with an excellent reputation, we are absolutely delighted to be at the forefront of current developments in education. We aim to always combine the traditional values of a first class school with the best of modern ideas and practice.

Our curriculum encourages all students to develop talents, acquire a plethora of skills and take intellectual risks. We are able to offer students contemporary, purpose built accommodation, outstanding teaching by a team of highly qualified teachers with a track record of success at A level and a Sixth Form support team skilled and experienced in areas such as UCAS, Oxford and Cambridge University applications and employment and training opportunities. Universities, training institutions and employers look very favourably upon students who have taken the opportunity to challenge themselves and expand their knowledge and experiences and we offer a full range of opportunities to respond to this.

Enrichment opportunities include the Extended Project Qualification, leadership qualifications as well as university-based masterclasses. Equally, we encourage students to get involved and there are numerous opportunities for students to take part in work experience and to join activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, charity fundraising, drama and sport. Our Officer Team is led by the Head Girl and Boy who take the lead on student voice in the school by chairing the School Council and representing the students at Governors’ meetings. Our established partnership with Hagley Catholic High School further enhances the range of courses and enrichment opportunities which we can offer to our students. The Haybridge Sixth Form is a happy community which encourages all young people to prosper and grow and provides an all-round education that allows our students to move into the next phase of their life with the qualifications, experiences and skills which will ensure success.
