Overview

Llanwern_high_Res-112.jpg
Llanwern High School is an 11-18 school servicing much of the eastern side of Newport. The school was opened in 2012 and is located on the previous Hartridge High School site. As of July 2023, there were 981 pupils on roll and all the indications are that this will continue to increase in the future. The learning environment and school facilities are outstanding and include everything you would expect in a modern secondary school setting. Academic standards have risen considerably in recent years - at GCSE, in summer 2023, we achieved our highest ever exams points score (known as the Capped 9, which is the main whole school performance measure) and with 12.5% of pupils achieving at least 5 A* or A grades. All of our A Level students were awarded their first-choice university place also.
