About Us

Portland College is a vibrant national college for people with a wide range of disabilities. The Portland College offer includes Further Education, as well as Employment Support and Personal Care.

We strive to develop every learner’s unimagined potential with a personalised programme. For those learners attending the Portland College campus in Sherwood Forest, such a programme can include work experience and volunteering. The personal curriculum is underpinned by a broad range of accredited qualifications in independence, literacy, numeracy, sport, arts, business studies, computing, small animal care and horticulture.

We deliver a specialised sensory curriculum for learners with more complex needs.

Portland College is also dedicated to working with Employers to help them develop a more inclusive approach to recruitment and workforce development. For those individuals we support in their workplace or elsewhere, they can be assured of the same high standards of support and personalisation of their programme.

Job Opportunities

Our college vision is to promote employability, independence and communication skills development for disabled people.

We achieve this through a close working partnership between learners/residents and our staff. Our priority in Human Resources is therefore to create an outstanding place to work, filled with high performing staff. We do this by recruiting, developing and engaging with people drawn from many different backgrounds but who all share the ambition to help transform the lives of disabled people.

We offer possibly the best benefits package in the sector, including:

Competitive pay

Generous holiday entitlements and the opportunity to take additional leave

Access to extensive development and training opportunities

Excellent maternity and paternity pay and leave arrangements

Generous stakeholder pension scheme

A Cycle to Work scheme

Free parking

Subsidised restaurant

Beautiful 32 acre woodland campus in the historic Sherwood Forest area of Nottinghamshire

...and most importantly – a happy working environment where the rewards of a job well done can be seen in the faces of our students and residents.
