The Auriga Academy Trust aims to provide outstanding special needs provision for the local community. The Trust works in a supportive partnership with local special schools with each school maintaining its unique identity and ethos. The Auriga Academy Trust is founded on the vision that, through working together, we can provide outstanding learning experiences for the pupils and students in our communities. Our pupils are at the heart of our vision and we believe that, by investing in our staff and working as a team, together we can make a difference.

About Us

The Auriga Academy Trust was established on 1st October 2016.  The trust comprises of three separate and distinct special academies: Clarendon School, Strathmore School and Capella House.

Clarendon is a community special school for 135 pupils aged four to 16 with moderate learning difficulties, many of whom have additional complex needs, including autism. The school manages an offsite centre: Gateway, which is for pupils aged 11-16 co-located with Twickenham Academy. Clarendon also manages the Peripatetic Learning Support Assistant (PLSA) team who support young people with disabilities in mainstream schools across the Local Authority. Strathmore is a community special school for 73 learners with complex learning difficulties.

Many pupils have an additional diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) or have additional physical and sensory disabilities. The Auriga Academy Trust is founded on the vision that, through working together, we can provide outstanding learning experiences for the pupils and students in our communities, both now and in the future.

Capella House School is a co-educational special school for 72 pupils aged 4 to 16. The School specialises in children whose primary or main presenting needs relate to difficulties with speech, language and communication. The school is located over 2 campuses, primary and secondary, both based in Twickenham. Our staff brings a wealth of experience and through our academic, social, and therapeutic curricula, supportive learning for all. With the skills, knowledge and resilience learned over their time at Capella House School, our students will leave to play a meaningful part in society.

Strathmore School is a co-educational special school for children and young people aged 4 to 19 with severe and complex learning difficulties, including those with an additional diagnosis of autism and/or physical/sensory disabilities. Strathmore is based in purpose-built accommodation co-located with local, inclusive minded mainstream schools (based across four campuses). Our dedicated team have high expectations of our learners, and we have the highest expectations of ourselves. Our ‘small schools’ and small class sizes ensure that all learners benefit from a consistent and supportive approach. Our constant focus is what will make the biggest impact for the individual learner. We want our students to enjoy learning, be challenged, achieve and fulfil their full potential.
