MEET OUR HEADTEACHER

Welcome to the Turing House School website - I am delighted to be writing this as the headteacher of our exciting new school, established in September 2015.

A new inclusive secondary school for Richmond was envisioned by a small group of parents who care deeply about their local area and its people. Turing House School is the result of their determined effort and the fantastic support they received from the local community, as well as from the Russell Education Trust, who have opened four other successful new schools in recent years.

Having been a part of Turing House School since the very start, I stepped into the privileged position of Headteacher in September 2019 when our founding Head became CEO of the Russell Education Trust. Turing House is a wonderful community in which staff and students work collaboratively to allow every individual to reach their full potential. Every member of staff at the school is committed to ensuring that all students have the best possible educational experience. I consider my time at Turing House School (THS) to be the highlight of my professional career and I am thrilled to be leading the school in the next part of its journey.

About Us

tile-ks3.jpg

Our school is the fifth secondary school to be opened by Russell Education Trust (RET), the country’s most successful Free School provider. All of the RET schools, including our school, have been judged to be good or outstanding at their first Ofsted.

These first years of a new school are a rare opportunity for inspirational teachers to help create a school; sharing our mission and ethos; shaping the curriculum and forming a true partnership with parents, students and the community. Being part of the trust our staff benefit from extensive subject network support and development and have a wide range of opportunities to develop their careers in our school and more widely.

To continue to develop the vision for Turing House School, we need the very best staff who are able to embed our ethos into their teaching and wider school life. We have already created a wonderful environment for young people to learn and mature in and we continue to develop this as we settle into our permanent site. Our aim is that all our students can be equipped to progress to the jobs, training and higher education most suited to their talents and abilities, irrespective of their social or economic circumstances and ultimately have high aspirations for themselves and their future.

Russell Education Trust (RET)

The Russell Education Trust (RET) is a not-for-profit charitable trust. It is sponsored by EL (RET) Community Interest Company, an educational consultancy that worked in partnership with a number of outstanding schools and academies to support the implementation of best practice in schools nationally.

RET works with parents, communities, and diocesan authorities to establish and run schools. RET schools are inclusive comprehensives with the highest possible academic standards, serving their locality and working as part of their local family of schools. Both RET, and the founding groups with whom they work, are firmly resolved that RET schools will all be judged to be good or outstanding by Ofsted and their communities within two years of opening; this has been the case with all five schools inspected.
