We are looking for a patient, calm and committed Assistant SENCo to join us at Wreake Valley Academy as part of the Special Educational Needs team on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has experience of supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health requirements. You will be part of a supportive team who are passionate and committed in ensuring all children achieve their potential, no matter what individual challenges they may face.
We require someone who has a child centred holistic approach who will put the pupils firmly at the heart. You will “Champion” the voice of the pupils with special educational needs or disabilities. The role of Assistant SENCo will support, advise, and guide classroom teachers and support staff in providing high quality SEN education and provision within the schools.
You will be a team player who is resilient and prepared to go the extra mile. Alongside supporting the pupils, you will also be responsible for providing specific SEN administration support which will include writing and taking minutes for meetings as well as preparing important documents to be completed by the SENCo or other teaching staff.
This role is a rewarding one with a successful candidate having the opportunity to become part of the Bradgate Education Partnership family and work as part of a close-knit team to develop the SEN provision within the school.
The ideal candidate will:
• To hold or be willing to work towards obtaining:
- HLTA status
- Certificate of Psychometric Testing, Assessment and Access Arrangements (CPT3A) qualification
• Level 3 qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience
• Level 2 qualifications in math’s/numeracy and English/literacy
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively in a team
• Be highly organised and conscientious.
• Ability to manage pupil behavior in accordance with school policy and procedure
• A highly organised individual with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise their own workload to successfully meet deadlines.
• Have good influencing skills to encourage pupils to interact with others and be socially responsible
• Be a team player
• Have a great sense of humour
