Thank you for your interest in the role of Facilities Apprentice at Holmleigh Park High School.

Holmleigh Park is an ambitious academy located in Tuffley, Gloucester. We believe that all children have limitless potential, and are proud to offer a comprehensive education to all students in our local community.

It is acknowledged that this is an apprenticeship role and that you may not be able to facilitate all the duties below from the offset. You will be given ample opportunity to learn these tasks and have the knowledge of some experienced team members. 

To work as a part of the West Gloucester Hub. To support the hub Site Manager and Regional Estates Manager in being responsible for the security and maintenance of the West Gloucester Hub Schools and to ensure that all our facilities comply with all current legislation relating to site safety and management. A wide range of duties are involved including security, cleanliness, porterage, monitoring contracts and contractors, routine maintenance, refurbishment and minor repairs. The post holder will be expected to advise on suggested improvements to the general facilities environment and to carry out planned maintenance programs.

Main Purposes of the Role:

• Must contribute and adhere to the overall ethos, vision and values of the Trust.

• Will ensure that the maintenance of the buildings and environment are effectively undertaken.

• Will be a Fire Warden/Marshall.

• Will, ideally be a first aider.

• Support your Team members.

• Ensure that the Trust meets its Health & Safety compliance requirements and must carry out all duties in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy and to contribute to the review of this policy.

• Will, as required, liaise with and support any premises hirer in order to ensure that an excellent service is provided.

• Must be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to Safeguarding and Child Protection, confidentiality and data protection. reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

• Will liaise with team members to ensure you all plan the work schedules to be efficient and appropriate depending on current issues/tasks recording and keeping EVERY up to date.

• Should ensure that their appearance and hygiene is kept to the highest standard.

• Attend and act upon information provided from appropriate training courses.

• Produce and record appropriate risk assessments as required for your duties.

Safeguarding Statement:

Holmleigh Park High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in line with the DfE guidelines “Safeguarding Children: Safer Recruitment and Selection in Education Settings”. The school will adhere to the following guidelines:

1. All new staff will be subject to a criminal background check through the Disclosure & Barring Service. This will be an enhanced check for those whose duties include caring for, training or supervising children.

2. All posts at Holmleigh Park High School require an acceptance of the responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. 3. The selection procedure for all posts will include a consideration of the applicant’s suitability to work with children as well as the post.

4. All applicants must submit a signed application form. This is taken as verification that all statements are true and that the applicant is not in any way disqualified from working with children eg on List 99.

5. Posts at Holmleigh Park High School are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act of 1974, and if necessary a declaration must be made on the application form.

6. The school will seek references on all short listed candidates prior to interview, and may approach previous employers for information to verify experience or qualifications prior to interviews.

7. Referees should be someone who has had a working or professional relationship with the candidate, and should not be a friend or relative. 8. Referees will be asked about disciplinary offences relating to children including any in which the penalty is time expired, and whether the applicant has been the subject of any child protection concerns and the outcome of that procedure.
