Invigilator

Salary: Support Staff Scale J point 6 £12.74 per hour plus enhancement for holiday pay. Salary is paid monthly in arrears.

Basis: Part Time

We are looking for an Invigilator. This is an exciting opportunity to join GLT / Brakenhale School and become an integral member of the exams team. Your role will be to conduct examinations in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), awarding body and Brakenhale School instructions as well as to play a key role in upholding the integrity of the examination process. We understand the great importance that exams play in a student’s life, and as a result, we desire the highest quality candidates to ensure the process for exams is flawless. You will be joining a great team at Brakenhale, where every person will play a part and cooperation is paramount here.

Main responsibilities:

  • To report to and be briefed by the Examinations manager prior to each session.
  • To keep exam papers and materials secure before, during and after exams
  • To ensure exam rooms are set out according to the instructions
  • To supervise candidates at all times and be vigilant throughout exams
  • To record/report any disruption or irregularities
  • To deal with candidate queries
  • To dismiss candidates from the exam room
  • To check candidates’ names on scripts and match the details on the attendance register
  • To securely return all exam scripts and exam materials to the Examinations Manager

You will need:

  • At least five GCSEs or equivalent which must include at least a C/4 grade in Maths and English.
  • Previous experience of working with children in an educational setting
  • Ability to meet physical/social/emotional needs of students
  • Participate in training and development opportunities
  • Commitment to high standards and expectations
  • Commitment to working within the School’s Safeguarding Policy and Procedures
  • Developing and maintaining good relationships with colleagues
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work constructively individually, and as part of a team
