About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Natural Dye Specialist to join our Textiles team on a maternity cover basis. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver engaging workshops and contribute to the vibrant, creative community at Morley College.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Natural Dye Workshops, providing students with hands-on experience in sustainable dyeing techniques.
  • Ensure the preparation and safe handling of natural dye materials and processes, maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Support and guide students through the natural dyeing process, encouraging creativity and sustainability in their projects.
  • Maintain records of materials, student progress, and workshop outcomes.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and share new techniques, trends, and innovations in natural dyeing.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience and proficiency in a range of natural dyeing techniques, including plant-based, mineral, and sustainable methods.
  • Strong knowledge of different fibres and their reactions to various natural dyes.
  • Ability to prepare and manage natural dye materials safely and effectively.
  • Experience teaching or leading creative workshops, with a passion for fostering a supportive and inspiring learning environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage students with varying levels of experience.
