Yeovil College is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Intervention and Cover Lecturer to support learners with special educational needs and disabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a vibrant department that changes lives through education every day.
As a member of our dedicated Foundation Learning Team, you’ll work alongside specialist teachers and professionals to deliver high-quality cover teaching and tailored interventions. You’ll step into classes during short-term staff absences, deliver engaging sessions at short notice, and plan targeted support for individuals or small groups. Your role will include developing intervention strategies, maintaining risk assessments, managing classroom behaviour, and ensuring all learners are supported in line with their EHCPs. You'll liaise closely with study programme managers, contribute to cross-college training, and support learners both inside and outside the classroom, including on educational trips and during meetings with external agencies. What we're looking for:
• Experience of teaching students with SEND in either mainstream school, college or a specialist provision
• A teaching qualification or willingness to work towards.
• Experience of supporting young people to learn and develop new skills.
• The ability to work successfully within a team.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• An empathic approach to teaching ad confidence to deal with challenging situations.
