We have an exciting job opportunity for a Nursery Practitioner to join our Children's Centre here at Yeovil College.

The successful applicant will be required to ensure all children are safeguarded and their welfare and safety is promoted, providing a high standard of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for all children in the nursery. You will give support to other team members throughout the nursery and work as part of our fun loving team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, learn and develop.

You will operate a programme of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of children in your area in conjunction with other team members and keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys and share these with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life. You will need to be flexible within working practices of the nursery, being prepared to help where needed, with tasks that will include the undertaking of certain domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snacks, meals, cleaning equipment etc. We are proud to share with potential candidates that the Yeovil College Nursery was recently Ofsted inspected as Outstanding.

To be considered for this role it is essential that you can demonstrate the following:

  • Working with children up to 5 years of age within a nursery environment.
  • Appropriate level 3 and above early years qualification in line with the government’s early years qualification guidelines.
  • Good general education including GCSE English and Maths, C or above, or willingness to work towards.
  • Able to work effectively within a team.
  • Organised and caring approach to work.
  • Able to cope well with difficult situations whilst remaining calm under pressure.
  • Display a child-centred approach and possess a friendly, happy and caring disposition.
  • Good interpersonal skills shown through your ability to communicate clearly and easily with staff, parents and others.

Hours: 24 hours a week, all year round. You must be able to work shifts within the opening hours of 8am – 6pm.

Salary:  Actual £14,316 (FTE £22,071)
