We have an exciting opportunity within our Yeovil College Student Support Services team for a Safeguarding Officer, we are looking to recruit an experienced Safeguarding officer to join our busy expanding team. The ideal candidate will have Safeguarding Knowledge and experience having worked with young people and vulnerable adults previously. The successful candidate will be a key team member and be able to offer support to our students and colleagues across our busy campus. If you are student focused supportive and have the ability to work under pressure we would like to hear from you.

As part of the role you will be providing a day-to-day response to safeguarding and wellbeing concerns to ensure learners are safe and secure, proactively safeguarding learners on campus and providing resources and learning via workshops and online tools to keep them safe on and off campus. To include all strands of provision study programmes, apprenticeships, and HE. You will be raising awareness of current themes including Prevent, County lines, CSE and domestic violence.

To be considered for this role it is essential that you can demonstrate the following:

  • Current Safeguarding & Prevent training.
  • Mental Health First Aid training.
  • Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent) or commitment to gaining within 24 months of commencement of employment. 
  • Evidence of continued professional development. 
  • Understanding of current Safeguarding themes in a School KS3/4 or FE setting.
  • How and when to take action to keep learners safe.
  • Use of electronic systems to report and track safeguarding concerns such as MyConcern or CPoms.
  • Working in a multidisciplinary way with experience of making referrals.
  • Delivery of workshops to staff and students (or willingness to deliver).   
  • Excellent IT Skills.
  • Organised and accurate recording of notes.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Level-headed and work under pressure.

Salary: £15,918 Actual Salary (FTE £24,144)

30 hours per week, term time only
