Student Support Assistant

About the Role

Do you like a challenge? Are you a team player? Can you use your initiative? Do you enjoy working with young people?

As a Student Support Assistant, you will work alongside a dedicated team of teaching and support staff to help students aged 16–19 with severe or complex learning difficulties. Some students may also have physical disabilities or behavioural challenges. At times, you will be required to support students on a one-to-one basis.

This is a varied, hands-on role requiring flexibility, energy, and a strong sense of commitment.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for someone caring, adaptable, and confident in supporting students with a variety of learning difficulties and personal care needs. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with or caring for young people or individuals with additional needs
  • A firm but fair approach suited to working with young adults
  • A kind, calm and patient manner
  • The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students
  • A willingness to assist with personal care routines (e.g. toileting, feeding, dressing) in a respectful and professional manner
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence supporting students with severe or complex learning difficulties
  • Flexibility to assist with a wide range of activities such as swimming, sensory learning, literacy, numeracy and enrichment
  • A good sense of humour and a genuine passion for helping others succeed

Salary: £24,136.00pa pro rated to £17,045.28

Contract Type: Part Time, 31.35 hours a week, 38 weeks a year
