About our Trust

We believe that strong collaboration with shared accountability can lead to better progress and attainment for pupils, and help all of the MAT schools meet rising expectations and to improve outcomes for children.

We combine collective strength with local autonomy, ensuring consistency where it matters while enabling schools to retain ownership of their own identity and improvement journey:

  • Opportunities for economies of scale;
  • The robust nature of our accountability towards and for one another;
  • All partner schools’ capacity to dictate their own direction providing good outcomes for pupils and a strong curriculum is part of their offer.

This helps us to continue to build upon the work of Symphony in which:

  • Our school leaders and teachers share thinking and planning to spread expertise and tackle challenges together;
  • Our Local Governors come together to share strategic thinking, to combine skills and to support each other during challenging times;
  • Shared professional development can more easily be arranged, whether led by staff from one of the partner schools or an outside body.

Symphony Learning Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust in which the accountability for outcomes benefit from the fact that:

  • Our school leaders, teachers and other staff can be shared across more than one school, enabling us to find different solutions to recruitment challenges, to retain staff by providing new opportunities within the group and to plan succession more effectively;
  • Our groups of schools through a central business team and central services find it easier to find and fund specialist expertise (specialist teachers and specialists in areas such as data analysis, finance, health and safety, HR) and provide richer curricular and extra-curricular activities;
  • No school is ever left vulnerable in since the significant expertise in other schools can be utilised on an equal footing.

Perks & Benefits

  • The Government Childcare Scheme - Childcare vouchers are usually received instead of part of your salary, through a system known as 'Salary Sacrifice'. Unlike your salary, you don't have to pay any tax or national insurance on childcare vouchers.
  • Teachers Pension Scheme - A defined Benefit Scheme, registered with HM Revenue and Customs, based on your salary and service rather than investments – so there’ll be no nasty surprises when you come to claim your pension.
  • Workplace Bikes - This scheme offers access to all of the UK's top bike brands, via Halfords and a network of hundreds of independent stores, enabling you to order a bike. Workplace Bikes works through salary sacrifice, meaning you will be able to make savings in both tax and National Insurance through the scheme.
  • Support Staff Pensions - The LGPS is a nationwide scheme, ad- ministered by Local Authorities for the local government employers within their County boundaries, and also for many other non-profit making organisations
  • Employee Welfare Service - From time to time all of us may need help in dealing with changes and challenges in our lives – whether they be work-related or personal. Symphony take the well-being of our employees seriously and therefore, we have ensured access to Leicestershire County Council support.
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) - Symphony support staff employees have access to an EAP through Legal and General. The EAP is aimed to be a positive, preventative programme of information, advice, training and services that help employees deal with events and issues in their everyday work and personal life.
  • Breakfast and After-School Club places - Many of our schools offer wrap-around care and where these are operated 'in-house' (ie. run by the school), you may be able to access free childcare provision. This is only available on the days the employee works and where there is availability.
  • Eye Tests - Free for eligible PC or Laptop users - If you regularly use a Display Screen Equipment (PC/Laptop) as part of your day to day role, you will be entitled to a free eye test up to the value of £25.

  • CPD and Apprenticeship Opportunities - Training, Coaching, Mentoring, Observations, opportunities to visit other schools and meet with colleagues in similar roles. We take professional development seriously and all staff are actively involved in the appraisal process and encouraged to identify their next steps which for many, the Trust can facilitate.
