Companies in Wales seeking to recruit apprentices or upskill their current workforce through the Apprenticeships Programme are now able to access a brand new service launched for employers.
As Wales247 reports, the National Training Federation for Wales (NTfW), which represents over 100 learning providers in Wales, has appointed a team of experts to help employers in the country engage with the Welsh Government’s Apprenticeships Programme.
The NTfW team aims to boost the number of companies taking on apprentices and inspire the recruitment of young people into sectors of national and regional significance.
The team, which will be funded by the Welsh Government with backing from the European Social Fund, will work alongside firms and stakeholders to offer a specialist service for all apprenticeship-based enquiries.
Making up the team are Apprenticeships Programme engagement officers Sam Cutlan and Andrea Sammon, along with regionally-based Apprenticeships Programme development managers Rhys Daniel (South West and Mid Wales), Joanne O’Keefe (South East Wales) and Catherine Morris (North Wales).
By speaking directly with employers, the team are able to quickly identify their requirements and offer guidance on the most suitable apprenticeship framework and pathway. The employer is then referred to the learning providers most suited to delivering programmes in their sector.
The team is wholly impartial; as soon as they identify suitable provision, the company has the choice of which provider they want to pair up with. It should take no longer than five days from the initial expression of interest from a company, to the relevant provider contacting them.
The new service will be launched with public and social media campaigns, which will help raise awareness among employers and inspire them to use the new service. It is hoped it will go some way towards helping the Welsh Government achieving its goal of creating 100,000 new apprenticeships in Wales during the current term of office.
NTfW chair, Sarah John, said the launch of the team represents another milestone in her organisation providing a thorough service for apprenticeships in Wales.
“The new team will be a great asset to the 100 plus providers across Wales in meeting the demands of employers and creating the future qualified workers of Wales,” she added.
