The East SILC is an outstanding school offering exciting learning opportunities for children aged between 3 – 19 with a range of complex learning difficulties. Some of our pupils are on the autistic spectrum, have complex medical needs or who because of their communication difficulties become anxious and struggle to engage. All are our priority, and through outstanding staff and a thirst to deliver innovative and creative learning, we are proud to say we meet the needs of all our young people, helping them to achieve their maximum potential.

As a specialist setting we actively seek out best practice and innovative teaching from all over the country, bringing in national and international experts in their field to embed new practice, This ensures that your child can access bespoke learning opportunities and thrive.

You will be familiar with some of the teaching approaches we use such as the TEACCH principles, but others may be new to you and include: Sensory integration, Intensive Interaction, Write Dance and Positive play and many more. Our own dedicated Speech and language therapist and new contract with an exceptional Occupational therapy team ensures that the services we receive from the Local Authority are enhanced significantly.

The East SILC and Children Leeds operate a city-wide Physical Difficulties & Medical Needs Service which supports pupils who have a physical difficulty or a long-term medical condition, to access mainstream schools.

 The East SILC is recognized as a leading innovator in the use of Assistive Technology to enable students with diverse physical difficulties to access the curriculum.
